Today is my last full day in Toronto. Sheila and I head to my parents’ house for dinner, then I’ll sleep over at their place. At around 2am I’ll get up and catch a cab/Uber to the airport to be ready for my 6:10am flight on Day 1.
Last night my good friend Dave organized a farewell party for me at La Vegan Ethiopian restaurant and 11 people showed up – Dave, Xicheng, Peter, John, Raymond, Esther, Ellen, Michael, Adam, and Sheila and me. I received many wonderful gifts including:
- A 20-lb granite rock to carry on the trail (I just might forget it at home!)
- A can of smoked oysters to ensure I never run out of food (since I don’t eat oysters!)
- A notebook
- A ceramic bowl (which I don’t think I am supposed to bring)
- A tiny greeting card where everyone wrote greetings
